WriterSpec learns how a writer writes, and turns it into a skill that writes new pieces in their voice.

WriterSpec is Apekon's research into writing style. It turns one author's past work into a WriterSpec: a structured, evidence-backed description of how they write, from vocabulary and sentence rhythm to how they open and build a piece.

That description is then compiled into a portable author skill: a self-contained set of rules a capable model can follow to write something new, about a new subject, in the same voice.

From an archive to a voice.

  1. 01

    Collect

An author's articles are imported and split into a training set and held-out sets, so later tests compare against writing the system never saw.

  2. 02

    Analyse and measure

Each piece is read for recurring choices, while scripts measure sentence length, punctuation and vocabulary exactly.

  3. 03

    Build the WriterSpec

Only patterns that recur across several pieces become claims, each traced back to the passages that support it.

  4. 04

    Compile the skill

The claims become concrete writing rules in one portable file, ready for any capable model.

Evidence over impressions.

  1. 01

    Traceable

Every rule points to a claim, every claim to patterns, and every pattern to the original passages.

  2. 02

    Style, not facts

Past work teaches how to write, never what is true today. Facts come from the brief.

  3. 03

    Blind-tested

New writing is scored against held-out passages by an evaluator that doesn't know which method produced it.
